ABBOTT "CHOOSES LIFE"– HE JUST DOESN’T CARE ABOUT WOMEN.
Earlier this year, Greg Abbott thanked Texas’ Pro-Life movement for making Texas “a beacon for life.” Strange: Governor Greg Abbott has never publicly said the names of women who died under his abortion ban: Josseli Barnica, Yeniifer Alvarez-Estrada Glick, Porsha Ngumezi, Tierra Walker, and Nevaeh Crain. If that is not cowardly enough, Abbott has directed the Texas’ Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee to skip analyzing the deaths from 2022-2023, the years following Texas’ total abortion ban and delayed this year’s report, due September 1st, until AFTER the midterms.
SUPERVISED DECLINE: REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE
As Attorney General, Abbott defended abortion restrictions and supported efforts to block access to affordable reproductive healthcare, eventually leading to Planned Parenthood losing all state funding and the closure of over 80 women’s health clinics. Since then, STI rates have soared in Texas, with the majority of new cases being in teenagers and young adults. After a decade of championing reckless attacks on women’s healthcare, Governor Abbott signed the most extreme abortion ban in the country into law. Infant mortality rose 12.9% and maternal mortality an estimated 56%.
A SLAP IN THE FACE: MILLIONS TO ANTI-ABORTION EXTREMISTS
Under Greg Abbott’s thumb, access to proven, critical reproductive healthcare has dwindled while state funding for “crisis pregnancy centers” has skyrocketed to over $100 million year. CPCs are not medical clinics. They are anti-abortion organizations who provide little to no legitimate care, notoriously misinform and manipulate patients, are riddled with fraud, waste, and abuse. It's a grift, and Abbott endorses it.

As Governor, Abbott has championed and signed into law multiple abortion restrictions and bans, including the current statute that has no exceptions for fatal fetal diagnosis or rape and incest, threatens doctors with severe criminal and civil penalties, and uses a bounty-hunter enforcement mechanism to isolate pregnant Texans from their friends and family. Abbott and his anti-abortion friends will stop at nothing to restrict abortion and reproductive healthcare, no matter if it’s attacking doctors, surveilling women, or letting Texans continue to be maimed and murdered by bad healthcare policy.

For years, Greg Abbott has refused to expand Medicaid to more low-income Texans, despite this costing Texans needed federal hospital funding and leaving millions of low-income Texans without coverage. Under the last decade of Abbott’s watch, Texas rural hospitals have closed faster than any other state.
BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL? MORE LIKE BASIC, BUSTED AND BIASED
Last year, Governor Greg Abbott publicly thanked the Trump Administration and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for the passage of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”, a measure that made historic cuts to health programs for massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Since the BBB passed, about 550,000 fewer Texans receive SNAP benefits than a year ago—a 16% drop—and more than half of the people losing food assistance are children. Rural hospitals are shuttering and premiums have skyrocketed. Millions of Texans have lost or will lose their healthcare. Don’t forget: Abbott cheered this on.
