The Facts
Greg Abbott: Bad for Texas women. Bad for Texas.
Texas women are facing a health care disaster, and Greg Abbott promises to only make it worse if he becomes governor. Abbott has worked to block women from receiving lifesaving preventive health care and to deny Texas women access to affordable birth control. He also wants to make abortion illegal, even in cases of rape, incest, or to protect the life of the woman.
Abbott’s Anti-Women Record
Over the last decade, Attorney General Greg Abbott has made a name for himself by both defending the egregious policies pushed forward by Governor Rick Perry’s administration, and by expressing his support for numerous policies that restrict a woman’s right to make her own personal medical decisions — policies that threaten women’s health. Now Abbott wants to take his ideological agenda to the top of the ticket, as governor of the state of Texas.
Abbott's Posse
If you look at the makeup of the Republican candidates running for statewide office in Texas this year, they have two things in common: they are men and they all want to impose their dangerous views on what’s best for all women. Most of these men have spent their careers prioritizing and promoting the passage of legislation that hurts women and restricts their access to reproductive and even basic health care.
